Journal Entry Types

The 9 journal entry types in Tradris — each captures a different moment in your trading story.

Every trade tells a story. Tradris gives you 9 entry types to capture each chapter — from the moment you spot a setup to the lesson you take away weeks later.

Each entry earns +10 discipline points toward your level progression.

You don't need to memorize these

Just talk to TradrisAI naturally — tell it what's on your mind, how you're feeling, what you learned, or why you entered a trade. TradrisAI automatically categorizes your entry into the right type based on what you said.

“I'm feeling anxious about this trade”Emotion
“Never enter breakouts before candle close”Lesson
“Nifty testing 23,500 resistance again”Analysis

Trade-Level Entries

These attach to a specific trade and build its activity timeline.

Entry+10 pts

The moment you pull the trigger. Capture your setup, thesis, and what you expect. Tracked by the 5-pillar discipline score.

Update+10 pts

Mid-trade check-ins. Is your thesis holding? What's changed? Demonstrates active trade management.

Exit+10 pts

Why you closed. Was it planned or reactive? Did emotions play a role? Also tracked by the 5-pillar discipline score.

Note+10 pts

Free-form thoughts about the trade — observations, reminders, or anything that doesn't fit another type.

Positionauto

Created automatically when you add or reduce shares. Records quantity, price, and direction.

Change of Plansauto-prompted

Tradris detects when you change your target, stop loss, or holding period — and prompts you to explain why. This is where you catch plan drift.

Timeline-Level Entries

Standalone entries on your main journal timeline — not tied to any trade. Includes both manual journal entries and auto-generated framework change records.

Note+10 pts

Your default. Market thoughts, daily observations, anything that doesn't fit another type. Journaling on no-trade days is a sign of a serious trader.

Analysis+10 pts

Market research, sector views, and technical analysis. The homework you do before placing a trade.

Emotion+10 pts

Name it to tame it. Fear, greed, frustration, overconfidence — tracking these surfaces the behavioral patterns that drive your P&L.

Lesson+10 pts

Your personal trading playbook. Hard-won insights that compound over time. Review these weekly.

Framework & Strategy Changesauto

Auto-generated when you modify risk rules, strategy playbooks, entry/exit rules, or portfolio settings. Captures what changed, old vs new values, and your reason — so your timeline shows how your framework evolves over time.

How Discipline Scoring Works

Every manual journal entry earns +10 points. A trade's discipline score is calculated as:

Score = journal entries × 10 (capped at 100)

A trade is "disciplined" at 70+ — meaning at least 7 entries across its lifecycle. The most valuable trades have at minimum an Entry, one Update, and an Exit.

Auto-generated entries (Position, Change of Plans) don't earn points directly but provide critical context for your review.

Tips

  • Use specific types — resist dumping everything into Note. Specific types make your journal searchable and power smarter TradrisAI insights.
  • Don't skip emotions — they feel awkward at first but produce the most surprising AI insights.
  • Let plan changes prompt you — don't dismiss the prompt. That's where you catch yourself drifting.
  • Review lessons weekly — they're your personal trading playbook.
